2016 Château Chasse-Spleen Cru Bourgeois Moulis

The current owner, Céline Villars, took over in 2000, and comes from the same family that owns a string of châteaux in Bordeaux: Château Gruaud-Larose second growth Saint-Julien, Château Camensac fifth growth haut-Médoc, Château Ferriére third growth Margaux, Château Citran Haut-Médoc, Château La Gurgue Margaux and Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux Moulis. Château Chasse-Spleen is widely recognised as "one of the great" Bordeaux wines, which is sold in advance (a primeur) every year and is a safe investment. The château is a member of l’Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux, along with most other well-known Bordeaux châteaux. "Château Chasse-Spleen always makes good wines, and over the last 30 years they have been on par with third growths," says Robert Parker. They are very rich and generous wines, which even at a young age have round and soft tannins, making them enjoyable earlier than other big Médoc.
