Taiadea Liquore alla Grappa Museum Jacopo Poli

Taiadea is a liqueur. It is made by infusing a traditional grappa, made from the marc of several different grape varieties from the Veneto province, with a "cocktail" of various herbs and spices. The most prominent ingredient in the spice mixture is the bark of the quinine tree, which is a medicinal product used for malaria patients. In olden days, Italians included the bark of the quinine tree in many different foods to reduce the risk of malaria, for example, some wines from Barolo were offered "chinato", with quinine. Today, it is not the healing properties of quinine, but rather its good, complex flavour that makes the bark of the quinine tree a sought-after ingredient in, for example, the excellent Taiadea liqueur from Jacopo Poli. The reddish, clear liqueur offers a complex nose of green herbs with notes of citrus and red berries. The flavour is sweet, soft and full-bodied with a complex, persistent flavour of herbs, berries and oriental spices.
