    10 Year Old Tawny Port

    Quinta do Vallado 10 year Old Tawny Port is a refined Tawny made in tiny quantities from grapes from very old vineyards. The wine is aged in both small and large oak barrels. The bouquet has a rich nose of caramel, dried fruits and orange peel and a little tobacco. The flavour is silky smooth and balanced with great freshness and ends with a long, complex aftertaste.

    Pretty aromas of dried berries, cedar and candied orange peel follow through to a medium body and a very sweet palate, with oranges, plums and a nutty undertone such as peanuts. Very fresh and sweet. Tastes older than 10 years and in a very good way!

Showing fine complexity for a 10, this adds a hint of treacle around the edges on opening and then becomes a classic 10--fresh and lively. It has a sweet conclusion, but the nice acidity keeps this on track. It's sunny demeanor and impeccable balance make it a pleasure to drink. There were 1,700 bottles (500ml) produced.
