Champagne Rive Gauche Bérêche et Fils

This wine is made from 100% Pinot Meunier, planted in 1969 by the Bérèche family - the Mareuil-le-Port vineyard in Marne is north-facing. Not many champagnes are made exclusively from Pinot Meunier, so all aficionados should treat themselves to this special wine, of which there are very few bottles. The Bérèche brothers have chosen to make the wine as a non vintage, but the wine is always based on a base wine of a given vintage. The aroma and falvour have plums, currants, citrus and lots of orange peel - black tea and green herbs also ooze from the glass. But make no mistake - the wine is at the same time incredibly elegant and controlled. It's mouthwatering - in a good way!
