2017 Château Pape Clément Blanc GC Classé Pessac
Château Pape Clément Blanc Grand Cru Classé
Château Pape Clément is one of the most interesting and best castles in the area. The building dates back to 1299 when it was in the possession of Archbishop Bertrand de Goth. Bertrand de Goth was later proclaimed pope under the name Clément V, hence the name of the castle.
From around 1986, the castle has been in the fast lane, and has delivered wines that in several vintages can almost measure up to the 1. Cru Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion.
From the year 2000, they have gone to extremes to achieve the ultimate quality, including having no fewer than 120 employees to quality control the harvested grapes!
The chateau is owned by the famous Bernard Magrez, who owns several prominent châteaux in Bordeaux.
The white wine has gained a reputation as one of the absolute best white wines in all of Bordeaux, at a fraction of the price compared to the whites from Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut Brion.
