2016 Riesling Cuvée Colette Domaine Weinbach

A very refined dry riesling with ripe peaches, lemon curd and floras on the nose. Restrained power and real delicacy here. The racy acidity is beautifully integrated with the juicy fruit. A long and mineral finish. Drink or hold. Made from biodynamically grown grapes.

Bright straw. Candied grapefruit, lemon verbena and aromatic herbs on the nose. Then juicy but dense, showing real depth and lovely length to the persistent pomaceous and stone fruit flavors. The finish is long, precise and lively. 90% of the vines that make this wine are 45 years old and grow at the bottom of the Schlossberg hill (not a grand cru), while about 10% come from the grand cru part of the vineyard. The lower part of the hill is characterized by granitic sands which tends to give rounder wines than those made with grapes from the Schlossberg Grand Cru parcel. What makes this specific vintage of the Cuvée Colette stand out is its combination of power and voluptuousness, plus the high acidity and freshness of the 2016 vintage. A real step up from the also outstanding Cuvée Théo.
