2016 Kono Pinot Noir South Island New Zealand

Kono owns a large part of the vineyards but also cooperates with local grape growers. All vineyards are certified sustainable viticulture in Marlborough and Nelson. With the Maori's great knowledge of their land and soil, passed down through generations, they managed to make wines with pure, expressive fruit and personality. The grapes for this wine come from the vineyard's best fields located on the upper part of the South Island specifically Awatere Valley in Marlborough and Nelson. Clear ruby red in the glass with enticing intense aromas of cherry, plum and hints of wild spices. The flavour of the wine has notes of red berries and dark fruits, supported by fine, silky smooth tannins. Rounded off nicely with a nice long and elegant finish.
