2016 Eggo Franco Cabernet Franc Gualtallary Zorzal

The hand-harvested grapes come from a vineyard at an altitude of 1350 metres in the north-west of Gualtallary. This plot is planted on a soil with old river deposits and a high chalk content. The grapes are fermented in egg-shaped cement tanks, after which the wine is aged on the skins for a few months before being pressed. The wine is then poured back to age for a few more months before being bottled directly from the egg without any stabilisation or filtration of the wine. Very complex and mineral aroma with distinct hints of herbs and black pepper. The flavour is wonderfully juicy and refreshing with ripe berry fruit, a lovely acidic structure and a razor-sharp balanced acidity that makes the wine refreshing and lively. Exceptionally long aftertaste.
