Pontet Canet, which is a neighbour to Mouton-Rothschild, is undergoing a rapid development. With the introduction of hand-picking, exceptionally strict sorting of the grapes, the introduction of a second wine, the installation of temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and a re-evaluation of the vinification methods, this château has simply managed to make a fantastic wine on a par with the great wines of the region. Here you really get a lot for your money. Beautiful dark ruby colour, and very fruity Cabernet-like nose, with very clean aromas of ripe blackcurrant and raspberry, with some oak and dark chocolate. Very well-balanced, with a fantastic concentration and depth, as well as very nice, round tannins, which together with the rich fruit form a full-bodied, almost fat structure that lasts into the long aftertaste
