2016 Château d'Agassac Cru Bourgeois Haut Medoc

Château d'Agassac is one of the most beautiful and historically interesting châteaux in Bordeaux. Latin inscriptions found in tunnels under the building prove that the château's foundations date back to the 11th century. The d'Agassac family itself can also be traced back a long way, and it is known for certain that it was a Seigneur de Gassac who gave the property its current name in the late 13th century. The wines of Château d'Agassac are often confused with classified wines from Margaux. The perfumed bouquet and the silky flavour can be found in the wine year after year after year. If Bordeaux were reclassified, Château d'Agassac would be guaranteed a place in the fifth or fourth growth Classé. "Diablement Bordeaux" - devilishly good Bordeaux, as the owners themselves say. The estate makes a classic Haut-Médoc with great intensity and a significant ageing potential. When young, the wine is quite tannic, but it develops with age a softness, richness and a broadly nuanced flavour of liquorice, blackcurrant and fine mineral undertones.
