    Mullineux Granite Syrah

    The grapes for this Granit Syrah come from a single plot of over 19-year-old, bushy vines growing in Paardeberg's dry soils of broken down granite. This plot of Syrah gives the best expression of Paardeberg's terroir - freshness and perfume. This violet-perfumed Syrah is the most elegant of Mullineux's single-terroir range. In the aroma there are notes of black pepper, violets and lilies, red berries, herbs and elegant minerality. These aromas are echoed in the medium-bodied and delicately spicy flavour. Beautiful silky smooth structure and a nice balanced refreshing acidity. Best served slightly chilled at 16-18 degrees. Decanting is recommended while the wine is young.

    Fans of their wines may disagree about which of the soil-based Mullineux Syrahs is best, but this is always a delight with 100% whole bunches adding texture and spice to what is already an aromatic wine from the Paardeberg. Youthful, focused and very fine, with bright acidity and filigree tannins. 2018-28.

The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, slight earthiness on the entry and truffle and black pepper toward the lightly spiced finish. This is very classy, perhaps just leaning to the powerful side of Swartland Syrah. 2019 - 2028.
