Château Quinault L'Enclos Grand Cru Saint-Emilion
Château Quinault L'Enclos was originally part of the small satellite appellation Sables Saint-Emilion. After the appellation was dissolved in 1973, Quinault was transferred to the Saint-Emilion appellation.
Alain Raynaud bought the chateau in 1997 and spent the next 10 years renovating large parts of the chateau and cellar, switching to hand harvesting, reducing yields and generally raising the quality considerably.
In 2008, Alain Raynaud sold the chateau to iconic businessman Bernard Arnault, one of France's wealthiest individuals and CEO of LVMH. LVMH owns several cult châteaux in Bordeaux such as Château d'Yquem 1. Cru Sauternes and Cheval Blanc.
Bernard Arnault immediately converted the chateau to organic in 2009 and the final certification fell into place in 2012.
Today the chateau consists of 20 hectares, primarily planted with Merlot. Large parts of the vines are around 50 years old, with the oldest vines dating back to 1934.
