2015 Château Haut Bergey Pessac Léognan

Château Haut-Bergey was built in the 15th century and is one of the finest châteaux in Bordeaux. However, the estate's wine has not left much praise in the history books, but Mademoiselle Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard made up for it. In 1991, she took over the château and immediately undertook a thorough modernisation of the cellar facilities, which today rank among the most modern in the district. The requirements for the harvested grapes were raised dramatically, so that a much smaller proportion today qualifies as worthy of the château's "Grand Vin". They have also hired Bordeaux's leading oenologists as consultants: Michel Rolland and Denis Dubourdieu. Michel Rolland is the man who, if anyone, knows how to make sumptuous, inky-black red wines in a "modern" style, which is clearly reflected in Château Haut Bergey, which reaps top reviews year after year.
