2015 Château Cheval Blanc 1. Grand Cru Classé "A" Saint Emilion

Cult château in Saint-Emilion. The Ducasse family bought the château back in 1830, and subsequently handed it over to their son-in-law Jean Laussac-Fourcaud, who laid the foundations for the château's high quality. Today Château Cheval Blanc is owned by Albert Frère and Bernard Arnault (LVMH), who appointed Pierre Lurton as manager of the château. Pierre Lurton already manages Château d'Yquem and Château La Tour de Pin. The château is known for not sending samples to reviewers, so the wine is rarely reviewed before release. The château is located in the western part of Saint-Emilion, bordering Pomerol, with an incredibly high content of gravel in the soil, which provides optimal drainage. The wine is known to "live forever" and only becomes ready to drink after at least a decade in the cellar.
