2014 Terlaner Nova Domus Riserva Alto Adige Cantina Terlan

The château ruins from 1206 towering over the entrance to the village are a majestic sight. Equally powerful and complex is this 'Selection' Domus Nova - a blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc - the wine that shows all the greatest strengths of Alto Adige wines in one very complex and highly mineral wine that requires years of bottle ageing before it reaches its full potential. Fermented and aged for 12 months partly in large oak barrels (50%), and partly in tonneaux barrels (50%). A complex aroma rises to meet you with hints of herbs and spices, including anise, mint and sage, as well as ripe fruit aromas of apricot, mandarin, honeydew melon and passion fruit in particular, all supported by salty mineral elements. Nova Domus has a complex and delicate flavour with a nice acid structure and creamy softness in an interesting symbiosis with the wine's great minerality. Finishes with a long, elegant aftertaste.
