2014 Les Varennes du Grand Clos Chinon Rouge Charles Joguet

Prestige wine that has been made since 1985. One of the great, classic Chinon wines with a very long life. The vines were planted between 1962 and 1976 and are situated on terraces surrounded by walls (Le Clos). The terroir here contains eroded chalk from the slope with the terrace and clay with some flint. All grapes are hand-harvested and sorted on arrival at the cellar. The wine has a beautiful and very deep, dark red colour with violet edges. The bouquet is full of aromas of ripe cherries, the flavour is very structured, tannic and very powerful. A wine that will age for up to 10 years. Should absolutely be decanted.
