2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Jean-Paul Daumen

The grapes come from a small 1.9 hectare vineyard with 60-year-old, low yielding vines (29hl/ha) grown according to biodynamic principles (Demeter certified). The grapes are all harvested by hand and fermented exclusively with natural wild yeast before the wine is aged in large old oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered. The result is a beautifully concentrated Châteauneuf with intense aromas of ripe red fruit with floral touches. The flavour is packed with dark fruit and slightly spicy notes, as well as hints of lavender. The wine has a nice balance with a refreshing acidity and with nicely integrated but noticeable tannins. A wine with great ageing potential.
