2014 Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch in South Africa is famous for high-quality red wines. The area benefits from cool sea breezes that temper the climate which together with low growing vines contribute to optimally ripe grapes with nice balance and aromatic complexity. The grapes for this wine come from selected plots on the north-western slopes of the Helderberg mountain slopes - one of the very best sub-regions in Stellenbosch. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand before being gently fermented at moderate temperatures and finally aged in French Sylvain and Saury oak barrels. The result is a high-quality wine in the style of Bordeaux wine. Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon has rich but balanced fruit, a nice texture in the mouth and elegance. Aromatically complex with wild berries, blackcurrants and exciting spicy notes. Noticeable but refined and well-integrated tannins reveal the wine's good ageing potential.
