    Arnaldo Rivera Barolo Vignarionda

    Made from selected grapes from the heart of the Vigna Rionda vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, where the vines grow in a light, chalky soil on south-facing slopes at an altitude of 330 metres. After gentle fermentation, the wine is aged in large new French oak barrels for 32 months and 6 months in the bottle. The result is a wine of great elegance. Beautiful ruby red with aromas of red berry fruit, violet and refined spicy touches. Full-bodied wine with a silky smooth tannin structure, ripe red berry fruit and notes of complex spice and liquorice. A Barolo that fully expresses the elegance the Vigna Rionda vineyard is known for.

    Arnaldo Rivera is a small private cooperative, named after Arnaldo Rivera who founded the Terre del Barolo cooperative in 1958. This Barolo comes from the outstanding Serralunga site of Vigna Rionda, and is aged in tonneaux. The nose is brooding and meaty, with ample cherry fruit. The palate is rich and suave, concentrated and dense, with a surprisingly velvety texture. It's bold and assertive, with strident but not excessive acidity and ripe tannins. The palate has a neat ball of sour-cherry flavors with some bright red plums, as well as a neat thread of gently sinewy tannins. All well-handled. Try from 2021.
