2014 Barolo Castello Arnaldo Rivera

Made from selected grapes from the Castello vineyard in Grinzane Cavour, where the vines grow in a deep and dark, slightly chalky clay soil on southwest facing slopes at an altitude of 250 metres. After gentle fermentation, the wine is aged in large new French oak barrels for 32 months and 6 months in the bottle. The result is a beautifully complex Barolo with a deep ruby red colour, intense aromas of ripe black cherry and violet with complex notes of spice and leather with balsamic touches. In the mouth, the wine has a big and acidic, but at the same time, silky soft structure that is characteristic of Castello's terroir. The same deep dark fruit and spicy notes as in the aroma are echoed in the flavour that has a long complex finish. An impressive Barolo.
