2013 XX270 Aléria M Syrah Korsika Vignerons l´Ile de Beauté

The Aléria vineyard was founded in 1958, but the wine history of the estate can be traced back 2600 years to Roman times. The Italian influence is strong in Corsica - the island first became French in 1769 and the Corsican language is very closely related to Italian. This is why many Italian grapes are grown in Corsica - including grapes that have now been forgotten in Italian wine culture. Aléria is part of Vignerons l'Île de Beauté - Corsica's foremost cooperative. At Aléria, they work closely with the internationally renowned winemaker Claude Gros, known from Château La Negly and in collaboration with the local wine research centre, geological studies are made, partly for historical reasons, but largely also to improve the vineyards. The XX270 ranfe symbolises the unique history and location of the Aleria vineyard and this wine is made from fully ripe Syrah grapes; with a nice deep colour, the nose full of violets and red berries and the wine shows great elegance in the flavour.
