    Ungeheuer Grand Cru

    Ungeheuer means monster, and the wines from this vineyard near the town of Forst can taste monstrously good. However, the vineyard is named after a notary in the 17th century named Johan Adam Ungeheuer. Ungeheuer is rich in black basalt, which produces wines of great richness as the black stones soak up the sun's heat. Ungeheuer Riesling G.C. offers a powerful bouquet of nectarine, citrus and a touch of petrol. The flavour is also very powerful and full-bodied with notes of nectarine, peach and exotic citrus. The aftertaste is very long and ends in a mineral finish. A big, powerful Riesling.

    Citrus colored, the Forster Ungeheur Riesling trocken GC is very clear and elegant on a nose that invitingly leads to lovely fruity and stony/mineral flavors on the palate. It is a full-bodied, powerful, very mineral and fresh Riesling cru of great expression and length with salt and celery aromas in the persistent aftertaste. This is surely one of the finest and most expressive dry Pfalz Rieslings of the vintage and can be cellared for at least 10 or 12 years.
