Poggio al Tesoro Dedicato a Walter
Dedicato a Walter is something as relatively unusual as a 100% Cabernet Franc and it is the house's top wine. The name refers to Marilisa and Franco Allegrini's (owners of Allegrini) brother Walter, who died in 2003 and the wine is a tribute to him. It is a unique wine, of which only 3000 bottles are produced per year, covering only a fraction of the world market demand. Although only one grape variety has been used, it is a very complex wine with many layers and its multifaceted personality is expressed in a total experience that true fans of Super Tuscans should not be fooled by. It is an intense red colour. The aroma and flavour are of ripe blackberries, blackcurrants, pepper and balsamic with notes of eucalyptus. This powerful wine with its deep warm fruit is balanced by a subtle fresh acidity. Long lingering aftertaste.
