Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge Lieu-Dit Clavin
Vieille Julienne is world-famous for Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but should be just as famous for their Côtes-du-Rhône. The vineyards for this wine are just across the border from Châteauneuf, but here too they have very old Grenache vines, up to 100-years-old. The wine could easily pass for a "real" Châteauneuf in a blind tasting. It is a deep red wine with berry and spice in the bouquet, juice and power and length in the flavour, but with the underlying elegance that has made Vieille Julienne so famous. Without doubt a wine with a long life ahead of it.
