2013 Breumel in den Mauern Riesling Gross lage Müller-Catoir

One of the very famous Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) wines from Germany and a monopole for Mûller-Catoir. As the name suggests, it is a vineyard surrounded by a wall, like a Clos in Burgundy. The vineyard is situated as a vineyard inside the Bürgergarten. The subsoil of this vineyard is mostly crushed rock and crushed sandstone, and the very old vines produce an overwhelming wine with a pale golden colour with an elegant bouquet with hints of citrus and green apples. The flavour is very complex and superbly elegant with a lot of minerality and fine acidity and testifies to great ageing potential. An experience!
