2012 Clos du Chéne Vert Chinon Rouge Charles Joguet

Prestige wine that has been made since 1985. The vineyard itself is a Clos (walled vineyard) of just 2 hectares located inside the town of Chinon, on a slope on the right bank of the Vienne River. This vineyard appears on maps dating back to the 13th century. The name comes from an enormous oak tree (Chêne Vert) that overlooking the vineyard with its 800 years of experience. The terroir here contains eroded chalk from the slope with the terrace and clay with some flint. All grapes are hand-harvested and sorted on arrival at the cellar. The wine has a beautiful and very deep, dark red colour with violet edges. The bouquet is full of aromas of ripe cherries, the flavour is very structured, tannic and very powerful. A wine that will age for up to 10 years. Should definitely be decanted and deserves ageing for a few years.
