2012 Barolo Trediberri

Trediberri Barolo represents the most classic and traditional expression of a Barolo from the westernmost part of La Morra. The vineyards are at an altitude of 350-400 metres and the chalky soil here is full of river stones and gravel - a special terroir that makes it all about elegance and finesse rather than richness and extract. The complexity of this classic Barolo shines through already in the aroma where notes of liquorice, roses, violets meet hints of balsamic and bergamot. The wine is not heavy in the mouth but almost ethereal with creamy fullness. Light freshness combined with deep slightly sweet notes of black fruit and nicely balanced acidity and shows why la Morras terroir is compared to Chambolle-Musigny in Burgundy. The acidity and fruit give the wine a long aftertaste, which is the hallmark of a Barolo that can be stored for decades under the right conditions.
