2011 Pechstein Grand Cru Beerenauslese Pfalz Dr Bürklin-Wolf 37,5cl

In Palatinate, Bürklin-Wolf has long classified the wines according to French inspiration, and the Pechstein vineyard is Grand Cru, i.e. the absolute top. It is marked with a G.C. on the wine label. The Pechstein vineyard is located near the town of Forst and its soil is rich in basalt, which makes the vineyard look black (pechstein means "tar stone"). Wines from the vineyard are often characterised by a great richness, because the basalt absorbs the sun's heat. Pechstein Beerenauslese offers great aromatic density in the bouquet and has notes of ripe limes, kumquat, apricot liqueur, baked apple, brioche and cinnamon. The flavour offers orange peel, quince compote and hints of white peach. A fantastic firework in the aftertaste with lovely freshness acidity and minerality.
