    Chianti Classico

    Rampolla's colossally powerful Chianti Classico is characterised by a beautiful dark colour and an aristocratic bouquet of super-intense berry fruit with nuances of blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry. The flavour is well structured, making the wine able to match the really big feasts with hearty dishes such as venison and lamb, while also being able to age for several years.

    The 2011 Chianti Classico is a great introduction to the wines of Rampolla. Much more structured than most wines of the year, the 2011 nevertheless has plenty of radiance and voluptuousness in its dark, resonant fruit. Sweet floral and deeply pitched spice notes add lift on the beautiful, delineated finish. This is a fairly approachable vintage for the Chianti Classico, but another year or two in bottle should help the tannins soften a touch.
