Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli

The vineyard also owns a third of the famous Montesoli hill, where precisely Sangiovese Grosso thrives optimally. In the 1980s, production methods were modernised and quality rose to new heights. Altesino Brunellos are still made in the traditional way, in large Slavonian oak barrels. Perfectionism reigns everywhere in the winemaking and nothing is left to chance. The result is top quality with respect for tradition. The top wine Montosoli: The wine has a deep red colour, an engaging bouquet of a little spice, lots of ripe fruit, the flavour is incredibly complex and intense with hints of liquorice, violets and a little leather and just goes on and on. A monument! Preferably decant 1 hour before serving.

The 2011 Montosoli is a simply gorgeous effort, as this beautiful single-vineyard Brunello slowly begins to open it delivers wonderful aromas of dark cherries and red berries followed by freshly cut flowers, leather and exotic spices. It continues to impress with its striking purity, while displaying remarkable overall balance and finesse backed by a silky, elegant texture and a long lingering finish. Montosoli is a top wine from the vintage, which should continue to evolve well for years to come. (Best 2019-2032).

A very ripe style with prune, berry and salted-nut aromas and flavors. Full body, savory intensity and a long, flavorful finish. Lots of juicy, fabulous fruit. Shows the greatness of the vineyard. Drink or hold.

Mørk moden dyb og frisk frugt af brom- og blåbær. Mørk chokolade. Mineralsk og meget komplet, fyldig og elegant vin med lang eftersmag. 5 sikre.

Den Korte Avis

93 point

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Montosoli provides us with one of the most beautiful tastes of Brunello in 2011. The secret here is that fruit is sourced from the Montosoli cru in the northern side of the appellation that performed very nicely in this warm vintage. The wine reaches excellent balance between power and elegance. It leaves a statement but never feels overwhelming. That intensity is presented in terms of fruit freshness, cherry, blackberry and currant. It also comes forth as spice, tobacco and leather. The mouthfeel is exceedingly smooth and silky. The tannins are integrated and soft. Montosoli is planted to a special clone that is grafted over when the vines die. The clone has never been replaced. Because the vineyard is located on the north side of the appellation, it was protected from the heat this vintage. This wine will be released in April 2016.

Wild berry, sunbaked soil, chopped mint, leather and menthol aromas meld together on this on this impressive wine. The bright, juicy palate doles out ripe wild cherry, crushed raspberry, mint, anise, clove and a hint of tobacco. Fresh acidity and velvety tannins offset the chewy fruit flavors and lend balance. Drink through 2023.

Complex aromas and flavors of macerated cherry, plum, eucalyptus, tobacco and mineral are the hallmarks of this sweet yet structured Brunello. Fine length. Best from 2018 through 2030.-B.S
