Poggio al Granchio
Poggio al Granchio is a new Single Vineyard located in a narrow valley on the east side of Montalcino. The climate is influenced by Monte Amiata, a nearby extinct volcano that the Etruscans considered sacred. The terroir here is very marly, but with hints of chalk and flint. The wine has a beautiful and very deep, velvety red colour. The bouquet is full of aromas of ripe fruit and a touch of vanilla and slightly roasted mocha, the flavour is silky smooth and elegant. A superbly smooth, complex yet rounded Brunello. It is a very limited production, made only in great vintages. Deserves to be stored a few years before opening.
