They no longer wanted to be part of a primeur system where wines are sold very young and where they often end up as investment items. Therefore, you can no longer buy Château Latour as a traditional primeur wine in the latest vintage every year in April/May. Since then, the château has been storing its wines itself, releasing them in smaller batches as Team Latour deems them drinkable and enjoyable. In practice this means that very small batches are released and that a vintage can easily be released several times for sale, depending on where the wine is in its vinous development.
