2001 Cuvée Philipson Côtes-du-Rhône Rouge Guigal Magnum

Cuvée Philipson Wine Côtes du Rhône Guigal is composed of grapes from the best wine regions of the Rhône. To include grapes of this quality in an "ordinary" Côtes-du-Rhône is simply unheard of! By participating in the creation of the wine, Philipson Wine has been able to get a flavour that hits the spot of Danish taste buds: an extra high content of Syrah grape ensures that the wine's intensity matches the strong tasting, Danish cuisine perfectly. Extra-strong barrel ageing and maximally ripe grapes contribute to an irresistibly bold, soft fruit. This is what Christian Philipson says about the creation of Cuvée Philipson Côtes du Rhône Guigal: "Making wine with Marcel and Philippe Guigal is an experience. In the huge cellars of Château d'Ampuis, Marcel Guigal is a master of unlimited power, here are cuvées and barrels from the best areas of the entire Rhone Valley. Marcel and I concoct the new Cuvée Philipson by tasting at least 50 different cuvées, which Marcel, wearing beret, scarf and copper pail, quickly says yes or no to. When the tasting is over, Marcel remembers all the cuvees and can quickly make a suggestion, which Philippe blends in the right proportions. We end up agreeing, although Marcel has to accept my suggestion of putting a more Syrah based cuvée in the wine than first suggested."
