2019 Cusumano Alta Mora Etna Bianco

The Alta Mora 2019 Etna Bianco opens to a bright appearance with shiny golden highlights. Made only in stainless steel, this pure expression of Carricante is brilliant and sharp in terms of aromas, with piercing tones of citrus, minty apple and crushed stone. I love the tonic energy and snappy acidity that this lovely drinking wine brings to the palate. It would make for an easy evening of shrimp tempura and steamed vegetables. Production is an ample 30,000 bottles. The Cusumano family has been working hard to fine-tune this wine, and the results show.

The 2019 Alta Mora Etna Bianco sends up aromas of musky dried peach, wax, raw almonds and wet stone. Its soft textures envelop the palate with a mix of nectarine and young mango offset by saline-minerality and bright acids. This is persistent and structured yet crisp and savory, resonating on citrus-tinged pit fruits and exotic spices. The 2019 is showing great already, but a year or two of cellaring should help to further smooth out the expression.
