2017 Riesling Cuvée Theo Domaine Weinbach

The 2017 'Cuvee Theo' Riesling from Domaine Weinbach comes in 6.3 g/l residual sugar, giving this just a kiss of sweetness. On the palate the wine shows a lovely combination of ripeness and bright acidity. Kiwi, melon and starfruit flavors combine with wonderful minerality. Showing good intensity and a refreshing edge, this beautiful wine will continue to evolve well over the next fifteen years - but it is absolutely delicious now. 2019-2033.

The 2017 Alsace Riesling Cuvée Theo is from the Clos and from young vines in the Grand Cru Schlossberg. The 2017 offers a nose of lime blossom and is intense and fresh but structured on the palate, with a long and intense finish with good salinity.

Lively straw. Aromas of lime, chamomile, celery and pear skin. Crisp, fresh and juicy with a lemony mineral sheen to the orchard fruit and sweet herbal flavors. Medium-long on the savory aftertaste. Not the most concentrated Cuvée Théo I have ever tried, but lovely and full of early appeal; this is another very good Théo (following the 2016, which was also a major success), after a few years of less than impressive vintages.

A creamy light- to medium-bodied white that deftly knits mouthwatering acidity with a stony mineral presence and flavors of ripe apricot and honeysuckle, accented by hints of beeswax and spiced orange.
