2010 Vacqueyras Genestes Domaine des Amouriers

The blockbuster 2010 Vacqueyras Les Genestes is a candidate for Vacqueyras of the vintage. A blend of 53% Grenache and 47% Syrah aged totally in concrete, it came in at 15.5% natural alcohol. Boasting a full-bodied mouthfeel as well as a terrific nose of licorice, white chocolate, creme de cassis and kirsch, it is a pure, heady, sumptuously textured, full-throttle, pedal-to-the metal Vacqueyras that is classic Provencal in its aromatic and flavor profiles. Enjoy it over the next decade.

Even better and the best vintage of this cuvee I have tasted, the 2010 Les Genestes is a blend of 53% Grenache and 47% Syrah that is aged all in concrete tank. It delivers a stunning bouquet of black fruits, licorice, earth, and a deep, pot roast like mix of roasted meats and herbs. Full-bodied, polished and voluptuous, with a seamless texture and masses of fine tannin, this brilliant effort is certainly superb now, yet should have no problem evolving gracefully for 8-10 years.

Bright purple. Dark fruit preserves, anise and smoky Indian spices on the highly perfumed nose and palate. Shows impressive mid-palate depth, with juicy acidity adding verve. Firm tannins come on late, giving focus to this wine's ripe, densely packed fruit. Very promising and in need of a few years of patience.

Violet. Mørk næse med flot dybde af mørke bær, der står sammen i en helhed, lakrids, et touch af parfume efter noget tid i glasset og stor volume. Smagen er let sødmefuld efterfulgt af mørke bær i fed og cremet stil og enorm fylde i munden og masser af tørrende tanniner og præcis frugtsyre. Lakrids kommer midtvejs i paletten sammen med diskret træ og let parfume. Voldsom tæt og kompakt vin, hvor det hele passer sammen og imponerer. Bør gemmes et par år, så bitertoner og tanniner lige integreres mere i vinens samlede billede. Det er stor vin til en virkelig overkommelig pris. Går du efter saft og kraft, så bliver du ikke skuffet. Vinen kan klare selv de sværeste madretter indenfor vildt. Drik 2015-2020.
