2015 Volnay 1. Cru Les Fremiets Henri Boillot

This is slightly riper than the Chevrets though it remains quite fresh with its aromas of plum liqueur, spice and soft floral nuances. There is exceptional richness to the concentrated, suave and highly seductive flavors that are shaped by a firm lashing of tannin on the ever-so-mildly warm finish. Note that this will require at least some patience. /2025+

Bright mid purple red, with an attractive wealth of balanced fruit. The nose is sound but the palate rather more striking until an element of bacon fat intervenes. There is some reduction here but the wine is otherwise attractive

Herbal and redcurrant character. Wonderfully punchy nose - angular acid, but with enough fruit ripeness and tannin to balance. Chewy finish. (RH) 13% Drink 2018-2035

Boillot's 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Frémiets is excellent, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of wild plum, black cherry, musk, incense and rich soil tones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and seamless, layered and rich but remaining succulent and controlled, its finish long and sapid. 2021 - 2035 .

The 2015 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru is another wine that is initially reduced on the nose, although this dissipates to a degree with time. It develops lovely raspberry, crushed strawberry and orange blossom scents that become very detailed and focused. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, nice poise and energy, and fine tension building toward a vivacious finish replete with red fruit, blood orange and just a hint of beet.
