Beskrivelse

Greywacke Wild Sauvignon Blanc

Anmeldelser

  • 19+/20P - Geoff Kelly Wine Reviews, oktober 2017: "Colour is rich lemon, still a wash of green, just below midway in depth. Bouquet is wonderfully evocative, clearly ripe sauvignon with elderflower and freesia florals, plus a hint of red capsicum, on white nectarine fruit. The complexing of barrel-ferment is beautifully done, the wine not at all reductive and only faintly mineral, the oak fragrant, sweet and subtle, the MLF invisible (as it needs to be in quality sauvignon). Palate is vibrant, no other word for it, wonderfully ripe fruit flavours centred on pale stonefruits, with just a little zing from subliminal red capsicum and sweet basil. Oak is superbly subtle here, and the MLF still near-invisible, just a suggestion of glycerol-like texture melding with residual sugar so subtle you barely notice it, due to good acid balance. This is sensational sauvignon blanc defining anew what New Zealand sauvignon could be, mainly because it has palate weight reflecting a cropping rate most New Zealand sauvignon producers would not consider. Cellar 5 - 10 years, maybe longer."
  • 96P - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, oktober 2017: " This is wonderfully precise and pristine, displaying lemon zest, sweet basil, clove and floral aromas on the nose, leading to a lively palate that is juicy and bright. The wine offers fine texture and impressive fruit weight, superbly structured by firm acidity. The refined mouthfeel is remarkable and so is the concentration and focus. At its best: now to 2025. "
  • 19/20P - Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, oktober 2017: "Very pale straw colour with slight green tints. This has a firm and densely packed nose, rich fruited and interwoven with complexing nuances of oak, lees, flint, but the green stonefruits predominating. This is rich, deep and layered on the palate with savoury green stonefruits, herbs and subtle nutty notes, The palate carries some texture and structure, still to resolve and integrate. The fruit richness is nicely balanced with the acidity. Still some time needed."
  • 91P - Jyllands-Posten v/Niels Lillelund d. 04.09.16: "Sauvignon blanc fra New Zealand bliver ærlig talt
  • 96P, 5 stjerner og guld - Bob Campbell MW juni 2016: "This is the fifth vintage of Greywacke's flagship oak-aged Sauvignon. I tasted it alongside all earlier vintages. It is remarkably similar in style but perhaps more fragrant with an appealing delicacy, although certainly not lacking in intensity. A fragrant wine with citrus and stone fruit plus a hint of mandarin blossom. Perhaps not as much matchstick/mineral character, which I think is a good thing. Great drinking now but with an interesting future."
  • 92P - Vinousmedia.com v/Stephen Tanzer d. 17.05.16: "(bottled in November of 2014): Bright, light yellow. Fresh tropical fruit and citrus flavors are lifted by a floral note. Boasts excellent sweetness to its citrus, white peach, honey, dried herbs and spice flavors, with a firm spine of minerally acidity providing support and grip and extending the finish. Like the 2014, this is a brilliant example of this richer, leesier wild-yeast style."
  • 90P - Wine Enthusiast Magazine marts 2016: "Struck flint and tomato leaf notes add welcome complexity to this wine's grapefruit aromas and flavors. For a wild-ferment Sauvignon Blanc, it's reasonably clean, with moderate body and a long, dry finish."
  • 91P - Robert Parker December 2015: "The 2013 Wild Sauvignon Blanc has a beautiful floral nose of orange blossoms and jasmine with underlying ripe nectarine, tangerine and spiced apple notes plus a touch of elderflower. Medium-bodied, ripe, expressive and with plenty of character, it fills the palate with perfumed stone fruit flavors, finishing long with a herbal lift."
  • 91P - Wine Spectator oktober 2015: "Succulent pear, peach and melon flavors show a lovely touch of fresh ginger, dried honeysuckle and nectarine flavors. Generous, sleek and juicy, with plenty of details and a long, lingering finish. -MW"
  • 17,5/20P - Jancis Robinson juni 2015: "Many in the region have described this as the vintage of a lifetime. Very dry, lots of sunshine but not super-hot, although Marlborough recorded the hottest Christmas day in 66 years. Heat summation only marginally above the long-term average, at 1,302 degree days. Smoky but not sulphurous. Almost a note of honey and opens to a hint of Sauvignon wild herbs and citrus. Very intense on the palate, very direct - spicy and clear-cut and showing little specific fruit flavour but masses of depth and length, resulting in a rich texture. Fresh (pH 3.3 and TA 6.4 g/l) - but that is not the distinguishing character. Definitely not your typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Drink 2016-2023"

Producent beskrivelse

Cloudy Bay-vinmagerens egne vine
